Where Do I Start?

As we go throughout our life we have many chances to take a path that we hope will be the one that shapes our career and give our lives the purpose and reason that secures our future.

Unfortunately this hasn't always been a path we are happy with and we have to carry the cross or burden allocated to our life.
As we don't always accept artistic skills as something we should take seriously they can sometimes get put on the back burner for most of us and once there we tend to forget we ever had them, but I'm glad to say in my case they were not too far back and I managed to keep the talent at the forefront of my life.
I have drawn or painted at various times throughout my life and slowly but carefully increased my skill level until some periods of painting became longer than others.
Having now retired I am totally committed to art and the pleasure it brings and I feel a fulfilment I have never felt before.
When you realise you have the ability to create a scene of joy and happiness that everyone can love it is a feeling that is truly amazing and one that you never want to stop.
My first collection of published paintings is of varying depictions of the ocean.
There is something about the sea that is constantly changing whether it be powerful crashing waves or calm lapping ripples of water caressing a golden sun drenched beach.
I like to feel a painting, it doesn't matter what the composition is, providing you can feel the painting grow with every brush stroke your creation will have a vibrancy and depth that everyone can appreciate.
My art creates a sense of satisfaction that gives me an inner glow and a feeling of happiness that is achieved by very few other things.
When painting I need to know that as my painting grows it is what I want and I am going to love the end product, if I don't like it for whatever reason I scrape off all my work even though I may have people around me who think its perfect and there is nothing wrong with it, they think it's great.
I won't sign my work unless I am totally happy with all aspects of my paintings, unfortunately it's just one of those things.
Keeping my paintings sized at 16x20 or 18x24 makes storage a lot easier but I hope to get into canvasses much bigger as time goes on and by doing so give myself much wider options. Of course the majority of my paintings can be enlarged as a print or even reduced but whatever your choice you will know I loved and enjoyed every minute of its creation.
